Labor Day has come & gone. Matt & I spent the holiday weekend seeing Lyle Lovett & his large band at ACL Live at the Moody Theatre, then seeing Indiana Jones & the Last Crusade in 70mm at the Alamo Ritz. For me, those were big outings. I haven’t exactly been my normal productive self lately, hardly wanting to leave the house between naps.
My lack of productivity leaves my summer goal list of UFO’s (unfinished sewing & quilting projects) sorely falling far short of the goal. But, I have done the most important thing… I’ve lasted thru the first 12 weeks of pregnancy with twins and frequent morning sickness. So, I guess I shouldn’t feel guilty afterall.
From the list I made earlier this summer, I must admit that I only finished* 1 item — the 3-block Hawaiian table runner. I gave that to my mom last week for quilting, along with the easiest-ever flannel receiving blanket/quit for the twins. Oh well. Hopefully the 2nd trimester energy boost isn’t just a pipe-dream and I’ll get a few more projects done soon.
Though, I think baby projects may be prioritized over some of the quilt binding I need to do! Here’s my current list of projects I might do for the babies, their room, and me:
Updated 9/15 to start checking projects off!
Nursery & Gear:
- Coordinating crib skirts. I’m planning to do these in a really easy way, cobbled together from a few online tutorials.
- Valances or cornices to go over the top of the functional and already-existing mini-blinds in the guest room which will become the nursery.
- Simple sheer side curtains to go along with the valances/cornices.
- A few easy square pillows.
- Possibly a receiving blanket or two.
- Possibly a larger quilt to hang on the wall.
- A floor cushion/fabric ottoman to rest my feet on.
- Maybe a changing pad cover.
Maybe a nursing pillow cover– DONE!- Two lightweight covers for their car seats/stroller when we go out.
- A laundry hamper basket
For the Twins to wear:
- A swaddler/sleep sack or two out of leftover fabrics in my stash.
For Me to carry:
A diaper bag…or two. One is DONE!- Pouches & diaper carriers for inside the diaper bag.
- A wet bag for inside the diaper bag.
- A nursing cover.
I don’t necessarily have high hopes for all of these projects, but making a list feels productive.
